Production (45.000.000 Swedish Crown during the period 1983-2002)

  • CASH project which was active from 1989 - 1991
  • Pilot reactor plant in Rundvik where 2000 trials were accomplished
  • Pilot project at Etek(ECN)
  • Pre-project studies of a full scale plant at Etek(ECN)
  • Chematur & Skafab develop a strong acidic method to handle house-hold wastage
  • Research in process techniques, LCA - studies in process optimisation have been conducted together with LTH, CTH and other companies
  • Bi-products of lignin have been studied during the period 1994 - 1997 at the Institute of Wood Chemistry in Riga
  • BAFF has together with SLU and others completed studies in raw material, cost of imported raw material etc
  • International study on ethanol from sweet sorghum with 13 partners in a EU financed project ECHI-T.
  • Processdevelopment and test on straw based ethanol together with SWAN Biomass and NREL.


Financing (28.000.000 SEK)

  • Conversion of cars and heavy vehicles during the mid 80's
  • Fleet tests which were initiated in Örnsköldsvik in 1985. Introducing this concept in Brazil and Mexico
  • Flexible Fuel Vehicle project together with the expansion of the infrastructure with OK
  • Technical developments were maintained by MFO in Stockholm
  • Blends of ethanol/ diesel are still to being developed
  • A low blend with 10% ethanol with petrol was introduced in Stockholm and Örnsköldsvik
  • Modification of cars to e85
  • Ethanol's purity as a fuel and it's relevance to different emissions

  • Organise seminars and conference in Sweden, Europe and China
  • Producuction of various informational leaflets, brochures and presentations
  • Presentations at conferences and seminars around the world
  • Publish monthly News bulletins
  • Constructed a Web-site with daily updated news
  • Transfer of Knowledge partner of the BEST project (BioEthanol for Sustainable Transports)
  • Light House Tours and study Visits to the BioFuel Region
  • "Environmentally motivated" and "Inspired for challenge" publications produced together with The Natural Step


Administration and Submission of developments

  • The administration consisted of bookkeeping, board meetings, project development etc? This included contacts with the authorities and proposals for evaluations
  • The international activity connected to the Governors Ethanol Group
  • Participation at the AUTOOIL II
  • Government evaluations from Japan, Malaysia, Germany & Spain
  • ISAF 2000 in Sweden
