Population Development

The population of the world has increased dramatically in the last fifty years. During tens of thousands of years till industrialisation in the end of 1800's, the population figures were rather stable, approximately 100 million. But after that the population has increased tremendously. Only in the latter half of the 1900's has the population increased by 300%. Today there are about six billion people on the earth, half of them are below 18 and according to statistics this figure will become ten billion during the next thirty years. But the size of the globe is still the same.
